Welcome to the S.S Phoenix! We hope you enjoy your stay!

ONBOARDING.

You open your eyes feeling a little stiff. The last thing you recall is seeing your planet get destroyed before a hand reached out to you--Captain's hand. You were then greeted with the same introductory phrase before receiving the keys to their brand new dorm, a device--you're told it's called the Babelfish, something that allows you to interact with others through the interdimensional network--and perhaps an extra thing or two.

You are then ushered into the onboarding area, where you can see your fellow passengers. Some foreign faces, perhaps even some familiar ones. Before you are given any time to think, however, Captain, at the head of the room, speaks up.

"Once again, welcome new guests, to the S.S. Phoenix! You may call me Captain. Today is your first day of onboarding, where you can get to learn more about us and your fellow passengers.

We are part of the Interdimensional Galactic Coalition, a system that was created to keep order and peace amongst the multiverse. This ship that you're currently in is now your new home. Consider the card that you have obtained your citizenship. However, staying here comes with a price.

As you already know, your worlds were destroyed. And we are here to help restore those worlds into proper order. But in order to do that, you must obtain Fragments. These mysterious Fragments will then power our ship's Revival Program. Those can be found in various worlds.

During your stay here, you will receive missions. While it is up to you whether you take on any mission here, I would advise for you to take ones that you are able to handle. These missions will be your lifeline here.

Now, if you have any further questions, now is the time to ask."

And she opens up the floor for questions--any questions.

ARRIVAL.

Being new to the ship, you might want to take a gander at what the ship's got to offer. The ship is rather large, and there's so much to go through.

From a seemingly almost endless mall to bars to cafes, certainly there's something that caters to every taste! Not to mention that you do have that initial money to spend... so why not do so now?

Just don't get too crazy... you might just lose all of it in a blink of an eye.

Besides the many locations and how one might easily get lost in them, there are times when anti-gravity is turned off, causing characters to fly off in the air.

AND THEN, THEY WERE ROOMMATES.

At some point before they reach the first planet, they might find themselves locked in their room for an hour. It seems that there was some sort of technical issue, but don't worry! At least you're not alone. They might even hear the AI intercom try and help make things less boring--offering ice breakers as the classic two truths and a lie, pong, and even listening to the top hit song on the S.S Phoenix--over and over and over again.

It's probably fine, though.

WELCOME TO FLORIDA.

"We have achieved Normality! We've reached our stop--please enjoy everything the world has to offer. You are free to off board at any time."

In early April, the ship eventually arrives at its stop in Florida. There's quite a bit to do and sights to see. Hey, why not head to Disney World while you're at it? It's a fun time for the whole gang!

MISSION START!

Missions can be immediately taken the very moment the ship lands on the new planet. Characters will find on their devices--as well as on the mission board both the list of permanent missions as well as the bi-monthly missions. Characters can take as many or as little as they'd like. But there seems to be an odd little mission for the bi-monthly ones...wonder what that's about?

OOC: Welcome to the first introduction and event post for Fragment Space! This PSL will largely be a choose your own adventure (although there will be extensive mystery and lore) with a lot of exploration and investigation options. If you'd like to investigate or explore something in particular, please label your toplevel with investigation, either in your post yourself or in the headers.

And as always, feel free to ask any questions as needed as I am always willing to clarify or expand on anything.

When do we get to help pilot the ship?!

[ Or, a completely irrelevant question. ]

Come on, really? What's the point of being in space if I don't get to fly a space ship?

Can I at least see how it runs?

Get enough money to buy a space ship, and then you can fly one.

[ She is completely straight-laced about this, it seems.

As for her second question: ]

You may. I doubt you'd understand most of it, though.

( There's a certain reverence extended when Odette pads her way towards the Captain. She hasn't quite parsed out the woman's motivations for helping them (though, she could say living in an underground world of vampires has made her more suspicious than she really cared to be.) Still, she's perfectly polite; speaking up in a posh-- somewhat mousey, British accent. )

I'd like to thank you for accommodating us, madam.

( Her hand clutches around her own shoulder as she speaks. )

Is there anything I can to help make your job easier, while I'm here?

[ The captain just simply nods before answering the question; her voice clear and as neutral as possible: ]

Just do the missions. That's all. I already have enough staff assisting me with the larger issues.

( Oh, the missions? Well, there was one that caught her eye earlier, but... )

I think I may have actually accepted one, though I fear it may have bricked my device.

( She takes it out and shows the screen to the captain: )

( She's really uncertain what to make of this. )

Oh, that...

[ The captain frowns, lips pressed together. ]

Someone hacked into our database earlier and thought it was funny to find a prank. You can ignore that. They were just being silly. We've found the culprit already and they've been punished accordingly.

[ Inaba does go to onboarding, but she does not ask the Captain questions, instead taking note of what everyone else is asking and who might be around before going ahead to leave.

She does have to check out the ship, however, so she can be found at the mall trying to see what the price values of things are. Inaba's a cheapskate, so she wants to find the cheapest deals!

When the missions are posted, she decides to take on a 'student' mission, but she seems to be looking at the HELP mission, although she doesn't seem to be saying anything, just staring into space.... that is, until she starts floating into space-- ]

Woah...! Wait, someone get me down--

[ This whole thing felt weird. Miyuki had essentially spent most of the time quietly freaking out at the implications of what the Captain was saying and where he actually was. It. Hasn't sunk in completely yet.

As he walked around in a daze, he heard a familiar voice calling out, and... watched her start to float by. ]

Inaba?!

[ He hasn't. Really become super accostumed to using her first name yet.

He instantly runs over, trying to reach up to grab some kinda limb? ]

Hold on, I'll... can you move in any way?!

[ That's a familiar voice calling out her name. And while a part of her is relieved, there seems to be something else that flashes in her eyes as well. ]

...Miyuki-

[ She sounds a bit panicked as she tries to reach out.

As for being able to move? Not very much, truthfully. ]

[ Think, Shirogane, think...!

He ponders for a second before he removes his school jacket and tries to toss it up to her. ]

Try to hold onto a sleeve, I'll pull you down a bit with the other one!

[ Provided he can reach the other one? ]

( Odette isn't quite certain how her vampiric powers would work out here, but considering many of them defy the laws of physics on earth, there's no reason they shouldn't be the same out in space!

When she spots Inaba begin to float off into the ether, she merely leaps into the air, managing to wrap her arms around the other girl's waist. )

Hang on, this may be a little rough.

( Activate: cat's grace. )

I'll try, but my grip strength's shit--

[ She frowns but attempts to hold on. As much as she can, anyway. ]

[ Okay, so she doesn't get to pilot a ship. Fine.

That doesn't change that she's actually in space! Actual, literal, seriously space! There were details she hadn't been sweating at all, but right now the top priority was to explore the ship itself! Given that the hangar was available, she went to check that out only to... naturally, not be really allowed to touch anything in there.

Other than that, she's mostly hanging around any place she can get a good view of something futuristic, and ultimately...

If you decide to check out the ball pit, Haruhi will pop right out. ]

Hey! Come on in, I'm going to try to touch the bottom!

[ Alright, well. Maybe she was being punished for exploring too deeply around the ship? Because when she had decided to stop in her room momentarily, she noticed that she wasn't able to leave! She knocked on the door a couple times, unable to get anyone's attention on the outside...

But, at least there was someone else on the inside?

Well, with the intercom making suggestions, she sighs. ]

Since we're not going anywhere, wanna do two truths and a lie? Loser has to treat the winner from one of the restaurants.

[ Already trying to get free stuff... ]

Roommates

( You know what's worse than seeing a tradcath vampire cult subjugate the human race and cause the end of humanity as you know it? Watching your friends starve to death and waking up onboard a ship out in the middle of space, with not a familiar face in sight. Yeah, she might not have fully processed everything that's transpired within the last 48 hours.

All that being said, she's trying to make the most of things. She doesn't need to eat in any capacity that's considered normal, so it's easier to spend her credits on non-essential items. Before coming in to check on her room, she's picked up some items to spruce up what was, for now, her living space. A set of cute bedding and and some plush toys to cuddle with. And-- oh!!

As she's making up her bed with the new sheets, her ears pick up the background noise as a song she actually recognizes, and proceeds to sing along! )

Never gonna give you up~ Never gonna let you down.

( Sorry, this is your roommate now. )

( Truly. It's been quite some time since she's last been to Disney World. And well, all the better now that the staff has gifted her special sunblock so she doesn't, quite literally, combust in the sunlight. Donning a pastel rainbow sundress and a pair of mouse ears she picked up at the entrance, she's ready for her mission! Gotta find Mickey!! And, well. Maybe have some fun along the way!

She can be spotted anywhere from hopping on rides to gorging herself on an inhuman amount of cotton candy. What? Not that she's a vampire, that doesn't mean she cannot appreciate the taste of human food, for what little that does for her... )

( He wasn't one to spend his time in shopping malls-- or at least, not often. And this place felt seemingly endless. He only wanted to hunt for a job here, truthfully, and he couldn't say his assassin background really served much of a purpose on a ship like this. Which led to his conundrum now: roaming the mall until something piques his interest.

It's not until he nearly trips into an odd, horseshoe shaped door and subsequently bends down to check the state of his shoelace that he notices a storefront filled with racks of black colored clothes and the bright red letters of its sign: Hot Topic.

There is a certain irony to this, he is sure. )

( With his job application out of the way, Kiritsugu has made his way to the food court, and seems to have ordered himself a cheeseburger combo; taking the burger in one hand, and idly scrolling through his device with the other.

He doesn't seem like the most talkative sort of fellow, but if you decide to seat yourself at his table, he's more than willing to engage in polite conversation. )

( He wouldn't describe this as any normal cat and mouse chase. No. Here he was, vividly out on the coast of Florida in a small motorboat, awaiting his target: a man who was heard to be dumping stolen urinals out into the sea.

He wasn't about to question the whys of it. Frankly, it's probably for the best he didn't try to comprehend whatever motivation this man had for his antics. Simply that he merely accept that this is the life he was now living, every misstep he's taken clearly showing on his face.

If you're the hapless assistant paired with Kiritsugu on this assignment, you will feel him press a gun into your hand. Where did he even acquire this??? Wow. )

Don't worry, you don't need to harm them. But if you can hit the propellers of his boat, I should be able to apprehend him from there.

( Treating this with the utmost seriousness of military operation, ofc. )

m-i-c-k-e-y m-o-u-s-e! (closed to Illya)

( This is where he had to admit, he felt out of his depth. He had very little to resemble an actual childhood growing up, trading in his innocence for a knife before the age of 12, and being surrounded by the bright colors and cheerful faces made him feel almost itchy in his own clothes.

His daughter-- darling daughter, was adamant they take on this mission, however. Find the Mickeys. Simple enough, right?

Idly, he clasps his hand around Illya's delicate little fingers, leading her down past the entrance, and slants his head to better view her face, casting her a softest smile he can manage. )

Any idea where you'd like to head, first?

( Okay, okay. He might be feeling a just a touch chuffed to be reunited with Illya in such a way. )

A Birb Joins The Field

1 - Arrival

Mystia Lorelei was out of her depth a fair bit. Devoid of her lamprey eel cart, her guitar... Her friends, apparently? She couldn't remember anything HAPPENING, though - just the captain's hand. But then again, Yukari Yakumo existed, so anything could happen. Including friends getting dropped on her, possibly literally, at any time the Boundary Youkai wanted. So, she wasn't sure if she believed Gensokyo was destroyed, but it kinda didn't matter - there wasn't exactly a way to go check, and she may as well try this 'saving the worlds that were definitely destroyed' thing.

So, around the ship she goes, at first, until she's reached the Mall, and is starting to go around it, figuring out what she can maybe do in the meanwhile.

She's definitely not inconspicuous. Go bother her?

2 - And then, they were roommates (Emphasizing Kiritsugu Emiya)

[And then there's the dorm rooms. They're, among other things, tiny. How is Mystia supposed to store a proper yakitori cart in here?! Once she. Gets one.

But, what it does seem suitable for, is practicing guitar! So, she gets to that. Good news, unlike her singing, there's no magic with this. Bad news, she is playing quite loudly - possibly enough to bother other rooms, to say nothing of her roommates in Room 3. She doesn't even seem to have considered the possibility of noise complaints yet. Whoops.]

3 - Florida Bird

[Florida. A place of myth and legend, far beyond the reaches of Gensokyo.

Okay, not really. But while it kinda resembled something earthy, it was really weird. She'll be trying a little bit of a lot of things - checking out the beaches, the amusement complexes which are oddly automated somehow...

... And then, she finds her space. The Hot Topic-alike. How's she to know it's too commercialized to be punk? It looks right and that's all she cares about! It is here she is most likely to be found.]

4 - Write-In

[Look, Mystia's a bird, she flits all over the place regularly. Feel free to propose places she might show up and run into you at!]

( Y'know, despite having fewer roommates than the rest of the ship's crew... perhaps he was given the short end of the stick. He could not, for the life of him, understand what compelled this woman to practice a guitar while Rick Astley loops in the background. He looks so tired, so weary; and when she hits a particularly sour note, causes Kiritsugu to grimace. )

You realize you're not the only one in the room, right?

( He regrets not thinking to pick up earplugs while he was scouting the mall, earlier. )

i. the happiest place in the world (literally)

[ All signs point to this place basically being actual Florida, but no way. Surely, if the universe is vast and infinite, there'd surely be a planet that looks just like Florida, name and everything! It makes perfect sense when you think about it.

So with her missions in hand and the sprawling land in front of her, she's decided to check out Disney! She's never made it before, and going for "work" made it the perfect time to take in the sights! Anyone that comes across her will usually get the same kind of line if they ask what she's doing: ]

I'm hard at work! Finding Mickey isn't easy, but I'm getting somewhere!

[ Somewhere being getting a churro from one of the robots and very prominently wearing mouse ears. She looks like she's been having a great time at least? ]

ii. ridiculous fishing

[ Haruhi's been sitting on the dock with a fishing rod for a while. She might be a little bored, and to this point, she's had a few wriggle away. She doesn't mind this as much as she should, but after a while, she's starting to wonder something.

Hmmmm.

Ah, someone's coming this way-- time to ask. ]

Hey! Come here, wanna help me fish? [ She's holding up her fishing rod! Clearly no shenanigans are on the way here! ]

[ It's honestly amazing that they just let people in here. Haruhi's absolutely going around attempting to get more of an idea of what happened here, if the history of Florida's any different here, and what the other leaders even do!

No doubt, she's absolutely trying to track down the President of the World. Got some stuff to ask him! ]
